Asset Tracking Services

High-quality mapping services are an integral part of fleet tracking and asset management systems. Fleet managers need to be able to accurately track the locations of their valuable assets, such as vehicles and people, around the clock. Multimap provides two essential components of the process: content-rich maps pinpointing the exact location(s) of assets in real time, enabling fleet managers to view the location of their entire fleet at a glance, and reverse geocoding, which converts geographic coordinates into location information, such as an address, which can be displayed on a web browser or sent as an SMS. These capabilities help fleet managers in their mission to improve security, reduce insurance premiums and boost productivity.

Multimap's Asset Tracking application can be used in conjunction with our new API. Following is an example of the service implemented by MarineTrack.

Features

The mapping is highly interactive: users can zoom in/out, pan N,S,E,W, drag the map, and define the map area.

Customizable map size.

Map auto-adjusts to most appropriate scale.

Use any symbol or logo to represent an asset’s location.

Further information, e.g., average speed and current position, is displayed beneath the map. These details can also be presented in an information box which appears when users click on an asset’s icon.

For more details about Multimap's API service, please see our API page.

Multimap's Reverse Geocoding for Asset Tracking Application is equally popular in this space. It returns the nearest street address to the geographic location of an asset, based on coordinates sent by the asset itself. The service also returns information about nearest Points of Interest (POIs), e.g., the nearest train station, petrol station, motorway junction, ATM or airport, to the asset's location. In addition, the Reverse Geocoding service allows users to receive text information on the location of assets, which can be rendered on a web browser, sent as a short message to a mobile phone, and saved to a log file, etc.
