Features

Amadeus Screenshot #1

Amadeus, the leading research website for travel agents, has created its own hotel locator facility to allow agents to find the nearest hotels to a chosen location. The search presents the hotels in order of proximity to the location entered.

This information is passed to Multimap, which works with MapPoint functionality to provide a map on which nearby hotel locations are overlaid.

The user clicks on an icon of interest, or on the 'See Map' link next to the relevant listing, to re-centre the map around the icon.

The user can zoom in/out, and pan N,S,E,W.

This service is available at street-level in most countries.

MapPoint's step-by-step Travel Directions can also be added.

Implementation

With the flexibility afforded by MapPoint’s Soap/XML interface, Multimap enables enterprises to incorporate maps, driving directions, proximity searching and POIs (Point of Interest) into a wide range of applications, and provides fast, flexible and scaleable integration of location information for web or wireless platforms.

The MapPoint Web Service is integrated with Microsoft .NET, a set of Microsoft software technologies for connecting information, people, systems and devices. Microsoft .NET enables a high level of software integration through the use of web services; those customers who are already running a .NET environment are able to extend those services to their online storefinders and other location-oriented applications.
