9 May 2007
Multimap, one of the world's leading online mapping and location-based services providers, today announced the appointment of Barry Slatter, business development expert, as Head of B2C Revenue. The new position was created following Multimap's decision to bring sales of advertising on Multimap's award-winning consumer website in-house.
Barry's primary responsibilities are to grow Multimap's in-house ad sales team and drive global revenue generation on the B2C side of the business. Barry's remit covers B2C revenue strategy creation and implementation, geographic expansion, partnerships and advertising relationships, and managing the in-house sales team.
Barry brings to Multimap over 20 years' experience in the advertising arena. Prior to joining Multimap, he was Managing Director for fish4cars and National Network Sales, where he had both general management and sales responsibilities Before this, Barry was General Manager at TNT Publishing Group, where he was responsible for running all sales and marketing activities for the TNT magazine, website and exhibitions across the UK and Australia.
Sean Phelan, founder of Multimap said, "The Multimap consumer site is a key part of Multimap's business and, with continued global expansion and a renewed focus on advertising and partnership opportunities high on the agenda for 2007, it was imperative that we found an experienced, passionate, and inspiring expert in the field. With over 20 years' experience, and a sound understanding of Multimap's B2C proposition, as well as our goals for the future, Barry very much fits the bill, and we are delighted to welcome him on board!"
Commenting on his recent appointment, Barry Slatter, Head of B2C Revenue, said, "With over 10 million unique users globally; a robust and flexible website; and sophisticated geo-targeting offerings, whereby advertisers enjoy significant boosts to campaign effectiveness, Multimap is in an excellent position to grow the B2C side of the business. The company already generates a sizable chunk of its turnover from B2C; it is my mission to maintain our position as the UK's most popular mapping website, continue to grow revenue, and expand the Multimap B2C offering into new territories. I am happy to embrace the challenge. With such a strong management team and a growing in-house advertising team of dedicated professionals, coupled with the advantages of a brand that is very much a household name, I'm confident that we will go from strength to strength!"
"I'd also like to thank the eType team for the role that they have played in Multimap's success on the B2C side of the business over the past five years. They have done a sterling job in the capacity of our sales house during this time, helping to grow this side of the business in a highly competitive and, at times hostile, environment. While our relationship officially ended on the 31st March, we will continue to work the eType team on the network and behavioural markets," he continued.
