Multimap.com, the UK's favourite provider of online maps to consumers and businesses, has added high-tech aerial photographs to its website.

It is now possible to log on to Multimap.comand enjoy a "real view" of buildings, cars and local landmarks.
The whole of Greater London and major cities and counties across Great Britain are covered by the high-quality, high-resolution colour images. Key European and international cities including Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Johannesburg, will be available soon.

Sean Phelan, Multimap.com's Managing Director explained: " The photographs are not just pictures. They have been created using highly sophisticated cameras and especially designed aircraft flying at a height of around 5,000 feet. The individual film images, sometimes thousands for just one city, are then formed into one seamless image which is as accurate as a map. Aerial photographs are a genuinely useful aid to everyday life. Homebuyers will find them particularly helpful when searching for a property and the images can also help in highlighting security problems caused by tree-lined streets and overgrown footpaths. They are also an excellent medium for locating bus stops, train stations and ports or for showing the best way to get around city centres and busy complexes such as airports."

But these are not the only applications for the service. Aerial photographs are a firm favourite for retailers who use them to show customers the exact location of their businesses, including how to drive in to avoid the heaviest traffic and even where the parking bays are.

The photographs are also ideal for tourism, providing a bird's eye view of the nation's historic sites.
