Multimap API V1.2 JavaScript Example

'Check Coverage' Example *updated*

The Multimap Open API now allows you to check for available geographic coverage before panning, zooming or moving a map or aerial photograph to a new location; this means that, if a user requests a map or aerial photograph at a zoom factor that is unavailable, the map viewer shows the nearest available zoom factor. This option is enabled by default.

In certain areas we are not able to offer full map or aerial coverage; in these areas, we offer a tile explaining this.

What You Should See

If you view this in your browser you should see a Multimap draggable aerial photograph centered on Antananarivo, Madagascar, at zoom factor 10.

This service does not offer street-level coverage of Antananarivo beyond zoom factor 13, so clicking on the "Antananarivo Zoom Level 14" or "Antananarivo Zoom Level 19" links demonstrates the effect of the Open API's 'check coverage' feature:

• if you have clicked the "Disable 'Check Coverage'" link, the map viewer shows a "No Data" image; but
• if the Open API's 'check coverage' feature is enabled, the map viewer reverts to zoom factor 13 and shows an aerial photograph at that scale, after presenting the user with a warning to that effect.
