Storefinder Service

Storefinder is a "where's my nearest?" search that allows users to enter a postal (or ZIP) code, address, or placename to view their nearest stores or outlets as icons on a map. It works from your company's own database of locations, is quick to implement, and is available for most countries via both XML and HTML. Searches can be refined by product type or other criteria. Following is an example of the service implemented by Foxtons.

1: Storefinder Search

  • The user enters a ZIP (or postal) code or street and area name to view properties in a location of his/her choice as icons on a map, and a list of properties with top-line details.
  • The maps delivered have zoom in/out functionality and the user can adjust their opacity by using the scroll bar.
  • A mouse-over with property details is provided for increased ease-of-use.
  • An option to view local facilities, e.g, schools and transport links, can be set up, as can be seen on Foxtons' UK web site (please scroll down for details).

2: Local Results

  • User clicks on the map icon on a selected property's details page to access an interactive map of the surrounding area.
  • User can zoom in/out and panning N,S,E,W functionality can easily be added.
  • Printer-friendly functionality.

3: Further Search

  • An option to view local facilities, e.g, schools and transport links, has been implemented on Foxtons' UK web site.

4: Aerial Photography

  • User can also view an aerial photograph of the area of interest, with map overlay. By moving the cursor around the map, he/she adjusts the area showing the map overlay.

Flexibility

  • Implement clickable icons: allows users to click through to more information.
  • Combine with Travel Directions: gives users directions to locations in one click.
