Storefinder Service

Storefinder is a "where's my nearest?" search that allows users to enter a postal (or ZIP) code, address, or placename to view their nearest stores or outlets as icons on a map. It works from your company's own database of locations, is quick to implement, and is available for most countries via both XML and HTML. Searches can be refined by product type or other criteria. Following is an example of the service implemented by Wyndham.

1: Storefinder Search

• User enters details of a location (city and state, province or territory).
• Searches can be set up by postal (or ZIP) code, address or place name; and to allow users to search on extra criteria, such as a hotel name. They can also be set up so that the user clicks on an overview map to select an area of interest.
• Even more filters could be added, e.g., “Find only those hotels with outdoor swimming pool,” or, “which accept pets.”

2: Regional Results

• The nearest (e.g., 3, 5 or 10) hotels/locations fitting the user's specifications are listed in order of proximity.
• Details such as address, telephone number and facilities, as well as distance from the user's location (to nearest 0.1 mile/km), can be displayed.

3: Local Results

• The user's preferred location is displayed on a separate map.
• User can pan N,S,E,W and zoom in/out.
• Printer-friendly functionality.
• Local information about points of interest, e.g. theaters, museums and transport links can also be shown.
