Multimap is the leading provider of online mapping services in Europe. Our public web site was launched in 1996, and now receives over 160 million page views and more than 7 million unique users per month.

We're also the number one supplier of Internet mapping to business customers. Our clients can choose from an extensive portfolio of location-based services, which are fully customisable to allow complete integration into their own web sites. Services can be delivered over a variety of platforms, including web, wireless, PDA, iTV and kiosk-based devices.

This role involves:

• Developing, maintaining and supporting the enabling technologies providing Multimap’s services.
• Engineering high levels of service delivery through good software engineering and active monitoring.

Requirements:

• Recent graduate of Computer Science
• Sound software engineering principles
• Programming/ scripting, e.g., Perl and Shell Scripting
• Good understanding of Linux
• Good understanding of SQL
• Experience of HTML

Desirable:

• Sandwich Year experience
• Experience with Oracle and MySQL
• Experience with Apache web server
• Experience with geographic information systems
• Knowledge of Internet protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP, HTTPS)
• Knowledge of XML technologies (XSLT, Xpath)
• .Net, SOAP, CORBA, XML-RPC
• Benchmarking and capacity planning experience
