Multimap Tops the 'Travel - Maps' Charts, says Hitwise
Hitwise UK, the online competitive intelligence service, today announced that Multimap was the top-performing website by visits within its 'Travel - Maps' category for the whole of 2005. The announcement was made at Hitwise's Annual Awards at the Institute of Directors, 31st March.
The Hitwise UK Annual Online Performance Awards recognise outstanding business
achievement and acknowledge the most successful websites in key industries based on
popularity (defined by the percentage of user visits received during 2005). In the 'Travel - Maps' sector, Multimap's monthly visitor numbers, which jumped from 5 million in January 2005 to 8.6 million in December 2005 in the UK alone, greatly outstripped visitor numbers to other mapping websites. Alongside Multimap, other winners of this prestigious award for their respective categories include Autotrader, Lloyds TSB, Google, O2, Norwich Union, Boots, Tesco, Amazon, eBay, Genes Reunited, Cancer Research, Play.com, and Odeon.
Commenting on the award, Jeff Kelisky, CEO of Multimap, stated, "We are very pleased to be awarded Hitwise's most-visited website for the 'Travel - Maps' category. We are constantly enhancing and improving the quality and range of the services that we provide to our users to keep them coming back to us for all their travel-related needs. Word of mouth plays a significant part in the strong growth that we see in visitor numbers to www.multimap.com, and the team here is very much focused on ensuring that everyone who uses the site has a positive and useful experience. This will remain an important driver in our growth."
