Multimap.com Offers Users a Bird's Eye View

Users of Multimap.com, the UK's favourite mapping website, can now access aerial images of most of England and Wales thanks to a deal with Getmapping – providers of the Millennium Map.

In a project which has taken three years to complete, Getmapping has photographed all of England and Wales and most of central Scotland, and is on course to produce detailed photographs of the whole of the UK – the largest aerial survey ever to be undertaken in the country.

Multimap.com offers a unique service through which you can overlay Getmapping's aerial images with street-level maps by moving your cursor over the photographs. This not only makes the images simpler to navigate, but enables you to recognise specific roads and landmarks more easily. The images also have full functionality so that you can zoom in and out and pan around.

Aerial images are a great way of getting a unique perspective of your house or local landmarks. You can also see aerial views of national treasures such as the Lake District, Stonehenge and the London Eye.

The service is invaluable for home-buyers who can obtain a 'real life' view, enabling them to highlight the pros and cons of potential properties and localities.

As a result of the Getmapping deal, you can also buy personalised aerial photographs, have high-resolution aerial images emailed directly to your in-box, and order aerial photographic atlases via the Multimap.com site.

"Our high volume business and consumer mapping services now have access to Getmapping's aerial photographs as an integrated and natural extension to our range of location-based services," commented Jeff Kelisky, chief executive officer at Multimap.com. "Many people are curious to see what their house looks like from above while many professional users need them for practical business purposes every day."

"Our imagery is even more accessible thanks to the agreement with Multimap.com which we think will be a very effective channel for both our professional and consumer products," said Tristram Cary, managing director of Getmapping plc.
