Multimap Traffics Banners for m6toll.co.uk in Massive Advertising Push
Multimap.com, Europe's leading online mapping provider, has
been chosen to support Midland Expressway's massive advertising
campaign to promote the new M6 Toll Road. The regionally-specific
campaign uses banner ads that click through to m6toll.co.uk, a site
that provides users with information about the toll including how
to pay it, its benefits, and maps and routes. The ads appear on
Multimap whenever users view maps or routes of the area around the
M6.
A full banner appears above Multimap's maps and a half banner
appears beneath them, to tell users about the new road, which aims
to provide welcome relief to traffic-weary drivers. There are two
creatives; an M6 toll-branded pill with text that reads "Fast,
effective relief from the M6. Click here for a map and more information,"
and a stethoscope, with the same text, of which the lead forms the
visual of a heartbeat. Because Multimap can provide a regionally-specific
audience, the campaign can be highly targeted. Multimap.com has
over 6.3 million unique users per quarter and registers in excess
of 90 million page impressions per month, offering advertisers extensive
reach and frequency.
Steve Boffey, marketing director, Midland Expressway Limited said
"We wanted to reach the maximum number of people who might
use the toll road in the most efficient and effective way, and Multimap.com
provides precisely the channel that we needed to meet this objective.
The fact that the banners only appear on screen when users are consulting
maps of areas surrounding the M6 means that there;s very little
wastage. Couple this with 6.3 million unique users and 90 million
plus page impressions and you've got a winning combination."
Mimi Parsons, advertising sales manager, Multimap.com, commented,
"Our technical capabilities are second to none. Midland Expressway
Limited gave us a very specific brief; the strength of our location-based
services and skill of our technical team meant that we were able
to meet these requirements perfectly. We're pleased to be
working with m6toll.co.uk on this highly targeted campaign and look
forward to driving many of our users to their site."

About the M6 Toll
The route of the 27 mile long M6 Toll road arcs to the north east
of Birmingham between junctions 4 and 11 of the existing M6. On
completion it will provide a free-flowing alternative to the West
Midlands road network. Once complete the M6 Toll will provide journey
time savings and improved journey reliability and quality. Main
works started in April 2001.
