Pub Goers Can Always Find Their Nearest Thwaites Pub Thanks to Multimap’s Online Maps

Multimap, Europe’s leading online mapping and location-based services provider, today announced a deal with Thwaites Brewery, the seventh-largest beer, ale and lager brewer in the UK. The deal enables users of www.thwaites.co.uk to rapidly find their nearest pub that stocks Thwaites products in just five easy steps. The added functionality increases footfall to Thwaites’s managed outlets, based mostly in Northern England and The Midlands, and generates greater brand loyalty among consumers.

Visitors to www.thwaites.co.uk click on the “Pub locator” tab at the bottom of the screen, followed by the “Thwaites Pub Locator” button that appears on the right of the screen. Next, they enter a place name or postcode, and click on the “Find pub” button. Multimap delivers a map of the location of the pub nearest to the location entered, with an icon representing its exact whereabouts. Depending on the precision of the location specified, up to ten icons may appear on this map. Pub goers use the arrows around the map to pan N,S,E,W, and they can alter the scale of the map by clicking on a drop-down menu. Also, a list of the top ten nearest pubs to the location entered appears beneath this map. Each entry includes full contact details for the pub; distance in miles from the location entered; and a link to further details about the pub including a short description, opening hours, and a key to its facilities (car park, beer garden and food, etc*).

Paul Howarth, Retail Director, Thwaites Brewery, said, “Drinkers of our portfolio of brands are typically very loyal and, even when they travel to another city, they will often search out a pub in which they can consume their favourite beer, ale or lager. We needed an online mapping partner who would enable our customers to locate these pubs as quickly and effortlessly as possible and we are very pleased with the results. Our licensees tell us that they’re seeing more people coming through the pub doors specifically requesting one of our brands, and we can see the corresponding increase in sales.”
